Also, Jack's Mannequin's new video for "The Mixed Tape" is coming out on Monday. Go to mtv.com to watch it Monday, because guys, I'm tellin' ya, JM rocks. And ladies, Andrew is a hottie. Go watch it Monday! It's gonna be great!
So, I got my room assignment, and I could not be more pleased. I'm in Hamill in Cate Center, and the best part-- NO ROOMMATE! w00t! So, that's exciting. I'll have to get used to the whole community shower idea. I'm really not sure what to expect. But, whatever, I'm sure it'll be cool.
Also, I pretty much got all the money I needed, I think. I'll be okay. And, I'm working on getting a job. I've applied for Chik fil a, or whatever it's called. Because they are closed on Sundays, and I need a day off.
So, yeah... Also, I had a conference call with Rea and some reps from Machine Shop. Our next assignment is Staind. Staind's album Chapter V comes out this month, and their single "Right Here," is doing pretty well. So, we're doing that.
Also, what I'm super stoked about, is Jack's Mannequin. "Everying in Transit," comes out at the end of the month, and when I get back to Norman, I'm going to be hosting a preview party. I want to have it in the Cate lounge. Jeromee's gonna pitch in, and I think I can talk to my RA and see if I can talk her/him into getting the floor to help me out with hosting, as a community building activity. Who knows... it might work.
So, yeah.
Also, exciting stuff. Fort Minor is touring in Europe, and already Mike is talking about setting up some US dates. So, if they come anywhere near here, I'm gonna try to get tickets from Rea. And, if she won't give them to me, I'll buy them and drive as far as I have to. Distance is no object. Because, you know, I get free tickets to our artists' shows if they come to our area. I'm telling you people, you need to go to machineshopmarketing.com, and apply to be a college rep, it's the most fun thing ever.
So, yeah.
OH! And, Mike Shinoda is doing original score for this year's VMA's. Him and Lil' John. I'll just let you sit and picture that for a second. I never thought I'd mention Mike Shinoda and Lil' John in the same sentence, especially when it has to do with music. Mike said if it doesn't sound like Lil' John, it was him. I took that as a jab at Lil' John. hahaha.. Anyway, so that'll be fun to hear. He said he's going to skip the Leeds festival in Europe to go to the VMA's, so that if his music causes any awkward moments on stage, they can pan to him and see him looking horrified. Hahaha. That's fun. But, no he won't be playing any FM stuff on the VMA's. That's a shame. But, I will get to hear mp3s and see video of what he plays in Europe, so even though the album won't be coming out until the fall, possbily the late fall, I'll get to hear some of it soon. Like, in the next couple of weeks, seriously.
Other exciting news is that I'm off of work today and tomorrow. Do you understand what that means? Two days off in a row? Are you kidding me? Unheard of.
How ridiculous is it that John Bolton was appointed US embassador to the UN. Does anyone else think Bolton has some sort of devastating dirt on Bush? I mean, W couldn't get him approved through Senate, so he just overrules them and appoints him embassador to the UN. He's so trying to hook this guy up, this crazy bully, regardless of what it does to his reputation. He's either getting paid big time somehow, or he's trying to pay the guy off for whatever reason.
That's Rob and Chester from Will Smith's pre-show party, the night before Live8.
Then today I found a picture of Rob Thomas holding a handicam in Rolling Stone, and the caption said that he taped Linkin Park's performance that day. Lo and behold, I watched the video that I have of LP playing and, there he is with his camera, just stage left. This is awesome to me, because I never thought that Rob and LP would mix very well. I thought Rob wouldn't like them. I figured they would like some of his music, but I didn't think he would like them. But, I guess he does. Which makes me happy.
Rob and Chester should get along great, though. They've both got colorful pasts, both songwriters, both big ol' spliffheads. I'm sure they hit it off just fine. Maybe they'll work together some day. I can't even imagine what that would sound like, but it excites me.
Also, I just heard some funny shit, which has been going around for almost a month. Apparently there's been a rumor that Rob Thomas slept with Tom Cruise. It flew around and Rob finally commented on it to Entertainment Weekly. He thought it was ridiculous. In fact, he said that he wasn't offended at someone thinking he was gay, but a little offended that they suggested he would cheat on his wife and that he was a Scientologist. But, he also said that he thought it was funny, because Tom Cruise wouldn't be his first choice. He said if he were gay, he'd much rather be coupled with Brad Pitt. Hahaha...
But, the email that was sent around said that Rob's wife Marisol had caught Tom and Rob in bed together, which sent Tom's people into rapid spin control. They had supposedly paid off Marisol, so she wouldn't go public, and then quickly found Tom a high profile girlfriend. There was apparently a big list and Katie Holmes, number 5, was the first one to accept. So, she signed a 5 year contract for millions of dollars, and she just has to follow Tom around and look lovesick. Which, I guess explains why Tom has been a crazy fuck lately. He had to be in the press as much as possible for everything else, to cover up his sordid homosexual affair with Rob Thomas. HAHAHA!
Why Rob, though? I mean, Jesus. I could think of a lot more famous rock stars who act a lot gayer. That's just hilarious. He's just too pretty, obviously. It's his tight pants. That's what did him in.
I mean, look at that. It's obviously his claim to fame.
There's a new Rob Thomas video out now, for my favorite song "This is How a Heart Breaks." It's hot as hell, guys. Rob's being chased through NYC. At first, it really looks like the video for Bent, just walking down the street. But, then he turns around and starts running like a maniac. Then you see somone is chasing him. He freaking falls out in traffic! He almost got hit by a car! He runs into a building and up to the roof and I was sure he was gonna jump off the roof. But, he goes down the fire escape, then over a bunch of cars and jumps a fence. Then he's trapped. And he comes face to face with who was chasing him, and guess who it was... Himself. Two Rob's for the price of one, folks! I was excited.
YAY! Okay, Nine Inch Nails is playing in Texas in October, and I am going. The tickets go onsale on the 23rd and guess who is going to be on ticketmaster.com first thing that morning?! ME!!!
Furthermore, Fort Minor is playing the Reading Festival. That means there will be video, because that is televised in Germany. This is exciting, because the way Mike has been talking, the record label is holding up the release. He won't say anything explicitly, but since he's a smart ass, he's hinted and made it pretty clear what's going on.
Also, I wish you guys were in the LPU. I just saw the funniest video. It was Brad and Rob sitting on a couch in the trailer at Live 8 and they played the reversible hat game. Rob was wearing this red reversible hat and Brad was talking to the camera like it was a kid's show. And he tells everyone to close their eyes and not open them until he says. Then he reverses Rob's hat, but he can't get it back on Rob's big head, so it looks funny. Then he says, "Open 'em!" Then it just goes crazy, "Close 'em! Open 'em! Close 'em! Open 'em! Open 'em!" And the screen is flopping back and forth between the green side and the red side of the hat. And then Rob closes his eyes and Brad goes, "Open 'em!" And Rob still had is eyes closed. He goes, "Can I open 'em now?" Then he opens his eyes, looking confused and goes, "I thought I was supposed to close my eyes," and Brad just looks at him like he's ridiculous. And, I cracked the hell up. And the credits go, "Games by Rob and Brad. Middle finger by Joe Hahn." Because Joe flipped off the camera from behind Rob and Brad's heads. "Directed by Phoenix." Hehehe... Jeez. And, there are two more of these videos coming, so that's bound to be funny.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has derided bands including Linkin Park and Motley Crue for using backing tracks when they perform live. The rocker would rather his band sounded terrible than employ pre-recorded material as a "crutch" to mask poor musicianship. Grohl growled: "We don't try to play perfect, like on the record. We don't use backing tracks. That's kind of a crutch other bands have up their sleeve. "I'd rather sound awful and have the chance to change things at a whim than sound like Linkin Park or Motley Crue because of today's technology. "They feel naked when it comes to playing live."
Okay, Dave, whatever. Motley Crue, I'll give ya. But, put enough sounds and scratches and techno in your songs for fifteen people to play, and you try to reproduce it all live. LP plays everything live. All those blips and electronic songs are programmed onto a keypad and they are all played live, just like a keyboard. All of Rob's electronic drum track things are individual triggers on his set that he plays separately. They don't have a track that plays that they have to keep up with. They use technology to play the music live. And, it's not that they have to sound just like the record. Their songs would sound completely different if they didn't use these things. Besides the fact that they aren't backing tracks. And, to me, they sound different every time.
So, shove it up your ass.
He's obviously never toured with them. He doesn't know what he's talking about.
I hate that I can't comment on xangas! So, Kyle I'm gonna comment on your book post here. hehehe..
I've read a lot of those on your list, but I think you should totally look into Chuck Palahniuk. Jeromee knows I'm completely obsessed right now with him. I just read Lullaby and Jesus Christ, it was awesome. It was gory and funny and interesting and insightful and scary and everything you could ever want in a book. Except sexy. Not very sexy. Choke is sexy, though. In fact, it's about sex addicts. And... What else? Oh, Diary was pretty good. Of course Fight Club was amazing. I'm now starting Invisible Monsters.
You know what else is sexy, though? Hahaha... This is preposterous, what I'm saying, and if you read this, you'll know why. Chuck Palahniuk's story "Guts." You've all got to read this. Not if you have a weak stomach, though. Oh, Jesus, this story is sick. Dozens of people have either fainted or puked at Chuck's readings all over the country. HI-larious.
Yep. This is all true.
And in my news, I'm at a complete loss at how I'm gonna pay for school. Why can't I borrow enough money to pay for college?! I can't even get enough to pay for tuition, let alone housing. I'm gonna take out another loan, but it still won't cut it. And, if Mom and Dad took out a loan and paid all their bills the way everything is now, they'd have $600 a month to live on. My dad uses $400 a month at least just in gas and traveling expenses. This sucks ass!
I'm not poor enough to get government aid, but once all the bills are paid, all the money is gone! Dad has worked all his life to provide for his family and, that's what's come back to bite us in the ass! If he'd sat on his ass and drew welfare instead of working, I wouldn't be having this problem. And, if they get another loan, he'll be working until the day he dies and still not pay it off! He's old enough to have retired already, but he can't. What are we supposed to do?
I think I'm gonna start selling drugs. I know people. I could do it. I could probably give handjobs for money, I guess. That's about all I can do! Wal-Mart isn't cutting shit and OU and the government aren't cooperating with me, so what am I to do?! Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck! Fucking shit!
So, Kyle, first of all, I got that Orange Peel email thing, and I must say Foo Fighters would be awesome. Because what other band has been known to wear dresses and has a singer that is also a great drummer? I hope they get them, but try not to shit your pants, eh?
Okay, and one other thing. Fort Minor is reportedly supposed to be playing some festivals in Europe in August. This, I'm stoked about, because that means that they might be playing in the US, and that the album should be out by October. They (LP, anyway) usually start touring a month or so in Europe before the albums come out.
Now with that meaninglessness aside, I want to rant about the terrorist attacks in London. I don't know if it has anything to do with the G8 summit, but regardless, I can't believe that! We were this close to getting those men in a room to resolve to help the millions of starving and dying people in Africa, and some fucking idiots have to come along and break it up. Not only that, but they killed or injured several innocent people, just riding the train on their ways to work. That's damned low. These people, whomever they are, have got to be the lowest form of life on the Earth.
Okay, Kyle, I'm posting again. However, let me say this, if you would follow my advice and get a myspace account, you would know that I've been posting. Lazy punk.
And, now that I'm here, I have nothing to say. Let me recap my week.
Water heater broke.
The carpet got wet.
Water bed leaked.
The carpet got wet.
Dog had diarrhea.
The carpet got wet.
The neices are here.
The carpet got wet. I keed, I keed.
My face got burned off at White Water Bay. That sucked. In fact, I'm still peeling. So, don't look at me.
What else?
Oh that's right. Nothing!
Just as a heads up, everybody keep your eyes peeled for Live 8 coverage this Saturday. It's gonna be hot.
What's tomorrow? Oh, gettin' paid, gettin' paid! FNF! Ya heard!
I don't know why I used that in the subject. Ignore that. hehehe
Guess what?! Linkin Park is gonna join the ginormous list of acts playing Live 8. YAY! They're gonna be part of history, friends. Can't wait.
Also, I have an amazing artist for everyone to check out. Jack's Mannequin is Andrew McMahon's, the singer from Something Corporate, side project. It's great. He's got one of the best voices, the melodies are awesome, the lyrics are rich, and it's brand new. You can also hear them here. You'll love it, I'm sure.
I took Jeromee home today. We had dinner with Kody, Reed and Matt. Kody was sneaky and brought Matt without asking any of us. I'm still not overly fond of Matt, but he wasn't so bad today. I was nice to him. I was in a good mood, so I thought, "Por qua pa?" I probably spelled that so wrong it's ridiculous. It's supposed to be French. Kody will know. But, Reed was great, even though he rolled in an hour late. He obviously operates on CP time.
Also, Andrew McMahon, of Jack's Mannequin, was recently diagnose with Leukemia. That's very sad, because he's such a young, sweet guy. So, that's more incentive for you all to go out and buy his album when it drops August 9. And, also to donate to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation for him, or give blood.
Oh, you know what else? Jason Mraz has got a new single out and he's dropping a new album in August. It's called Mr. A-Z. The single is "Wordplay." You can hear it here. There are also more clips from the new album and the new video here.
So, today was great. It went by quickly and I worked with the Ashleys, and we're the dynamic trio, so that was fun. And also because I'm so looking forward to tomorrow. Do you know what tomorrow is? Welllll....
And, have you heard about all the fun that's happening in Alma, AR right now. Well, the family of that girl that went missing and got killed is getting their house remodeled by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. So, we're going to go stalk Ty Pennington Tuesday. That'll be a hoot.
Kody comes home tomorrow, too! So, I'm sure there will be a nice evening in Ft. Smith or Fayetteville. That looks wrong. How do you spell Fayettville? That's not right.
Have you seen that show "Hit me baby one more time"? It's so fun. They had The Knack on there the other day, and they did a Jet song. It was hot.
The MTV Movie awards were dumb. Anybody with me? They were faster, but no less dumb. Foo Fighters rocked, though. And so did Yellowcard's rendition of "Don't You Forget About Me."
Quentin Tarentino doesn't make sense.
And, what else? I can't remember. Whatever.
Good night and good luck. And, keep your knees loose.
Okay, so I had that damn Gwen Stefani song stuck in my head all day, then I saw this kid's amateur mash up site, and stars collided and birds flew and thunder struck. So, I downloaded this music mixing program called Goldwave, the intrumental for "Hollaback Girl" and the a capella track for "Izzo." And, I made me a track. It's called "Hova is Bananas." Or you can call it "Hova's Back Girl." I can't decide which I like better. Go download it and tell me what you think!
It's a little rough around the edges, since I've only been doing this for... three hours... but I'm terribly proud of it.
Here's what I did: I reversed "Hollaback Girl" and chopped up Jay's track and mixed them and then added some other little DJ effects. It turned out rather well, I think. Go download it! NOW!
::excited::
w00t!
Good night and good luck and enjoy my track!
P.S. I need a DJ name. I'm calling myself t-jea, for the time being. Give me suggestions. hehehe
P.P.S. I want to comment on y'all's xangas, but I closed my account, so I can't. So, Kyle, the invisible fence story is funny. Anyway...
Okay, Kyle wants details. We went to see Lords of Dogtown. First of all, I dressed pretty well. I wore heels, people. More for me than him, I think, but still. That's a special occasion. Anyway. We saw Lords of Dogtown, which was okay, but I think I made it clear that I wanted to see Crash. Whatever. This dude... I mean, see star wars geek, and you got him. That's pretty much it.
And, he's probably gonna see this, because I'm googleable, but whatever. So, yeah, then we went to ::drum roll please:: Taco Bell. Yeah, some bells should be going off right now. Those are the loser bells. So, no more of this.
I'ma stick with gay boys. As for right now, I'm headed to Jessy and Brandon's to watch some movies. Late!
Oh jeez. I'm on the Fort Minor boards and Mike and Ryu have been going crazy. First Ryu called Mike Bubbles, referring to Michael Jackson's chimp. Then Mike called Ryu Fluffy McButtercakes. Then Ryu said this:
Ryu
chillin love pellets. you know how we do.......we don't. balls like powered donuts playboy.
Mike i feel you like mildew, cousin. cloud aint nothin but a hopscotch pit pat on the fizzle face. fashodoe.
Ryu
i respect yo moufpiece, i see you been doin this shit since moby dick was a goldfish and i ain't one to hate.
Ryu said they were talking in code. o.0? Whatever. It's hilarious.
So, I met Jon yesterday. I went to the mall and he called and asked if I wanted to meet for coffee or whatever. So, he came like an hour later and we got coffee and walked around the mall and said hi to a few of his friends and such. He reminds me a lot - maybe too much - of Michael Prestein. Maybe a mix between Michael and Andy Dodd. ::shrug:: I suppose we're still going out Sunday night.
Also, fortminor.com has been updated. Mike's got some gibberish on there, that you're supposed to translate and it's supposed to be exclusive information. He's got a code on there so you can translate whatever he puts up whenever he does. Why does everything have to be complicated with him?
He also has a new loop on there. One is the instrumental, with just a little bit of vocal from "Remember the Name" and the other is this neat ambient mess. I really like the beat on "Remember the Name." It doesn't sound quite like I thought it would, but I can tell it's gonna be hot with lyrics. I don't know the other one is from. I wouldn't know what the first one was, but Mike let it slip on the boards, probably intentionally. Somebody mentioned that there was another loop, and he goes, "how did you know that was remember the name, i never said that." hahah...
So, that's all that's on my mind right now. Sad, huh? I gotta get ready for work in an hour, so I'ma drop by my classes and see what's up.
Oh wait! I saw the whole season of Fat Actress and Kinsey last night. Both very good. Kody, you must see Kinsey right away.
I'm so giddy! I love myspace.com! I've met so many cool people on there. There's a guy named DJ Diverse, who spins in OKC, and we've been chatting back and forth about Styles of Beyond and stuff. He asked me how I got into SOB, and I told him through LP and all that... Anyway, he goes, "Damn. A greek girl listening to SOB. Who would have thought?" I put on my profile that I'm a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, which is the honors frat. He thought I was a sorority girl.
Possibly the first time in my life I've been mistaken for a sorority girl.
Anyway, I met this cool band from Pocola and another guy that's kinda cute from Pocola. I'm gonna go ahead and demand that all of you get a myspace account. I think you'll all like it better than xanga. You get a lot more traffic. It's hella fun.
If you do join and want to change the colors on your stuff, hit me up and I'll give you a link that will help you out, because it doesn't come on the site they way it does on xanga and tblog. But, it's super cool.
So, Deep Throat has been revealed. Hahaha.. Deep Throat....
Ahh.. And that's all I have to say. I have to go take a quiz online.
Mike's lost his mind. Well, it was late. Anyway, here's what he said last night on the FM boards.
mikeshinoda
i don't know what you're talking about. this is just going to be a simple album about gripping grain, rollin on 26's, cristal, wristwatch shine, and big ass guns that won't fit in your car. holla. i almost can't even believe i wrote that myself. i need to buy some new cds, i feel like i'm brainwashed.
Crazy. Then he said...
mikeshinoda
i don't know, but in high school i used to make beats on a $100 keyboard. for a long time, i was trying to get that g-funk long beach sound...then i realized that my stupid keyboard made everything like an 80s sci-fi soundtrack (or a porno. which is worse?)
Hahaha.. So, that was fun.
Ahh.. I just listened to Jeromee flipping out while watching The Miss Universe Pageant. For a guy who doesn't dig chicks, he really gets into beauty pageants. Miss Canada won, in case you were wondering. I, myself, couldn't give a half a shit. Hmph.
I was in such a pleasant mood all day. Which is odd, because Auntie Flo is visiting this week, and she's a pain in the ass. I think it was because of all the soft music I've been listening to. Anna Nalick and Holly Brook are my two new favorite singers.
I joined Myspace. I love it. I want to switch to that full-time, but visitors who aren't members can't comment, so I'll cross-blog. Just for you. I'm here to please you.
I'm watching Roseanne. My God, I love this show. It's like my childhood all over again.
Hmm... I want to keep typing but I'm all out of things to say.
Chester Bennington went to the Indy 500 yesterday. He was in the silly little celebrity parade.
Aww... That's cute. But, who's this?
Hmmm...
She looks a little young, Chaz.
So, I think that's a direct statement to Samantha. My question is, what came first? The divorce papers or this one? Is this a homewrecker kinda situation? Hmm.. At least she's cuter. But, I'm thinkin' gold digger. Not to be mean, because she might be a lovely person. But, you gotta think that when somebody goes after a married guy in a rock band that's always busy. She's not expecting a healthy relationship. He is still married, by the way. Separated, yes. Divorced, not quite. Hmm...
Why does Anna Nalick write like she knows me personally? I.. I... I...
"In My Head" *Basically the story of my life and all the sordid affairs with rock stars I've had in my mind*
Under the weight of your wings You are a god and whatever I want you to be And I wonder if truly you are Nearly as beautiful as I believe In my head Your voice You've got all that I need And this make believe will get me through Another lonely night Under the weight of your wings Should ever we meet on your side of your stereo I will pretend I know not of your thoughts And even the way that they mirror my own I'll take you away in the way that you take me and go where I go Fall away to the sound of my heart to your beat Melancholy and cool, kind of bitter sweet Love on repeat I'm echoing all your philosophies And as I... Oh... I don't Wanna be fool-hearted Baby, I'm out-numbered in my head Under the weight of your wings I make believe you are all that I'll ever need All that I need...
GUH!
I just entered a drawing to win two tickets to go to Summerfest. It's in Modesto, CA, but Anna Nalick is playing. I'd love to hear her live. I just got her album, and I'm completely hooked. Everclear and Transport and several other cool bands are playing there, as well. I hope I win. Cross your fingers.
I got a bunch of posters and stickers for No Warning today. Which is great, because I had put off my little survey thing until tomorrow anyway, so I can stickers and posters to the stores in Ft. Smith while I'm out. Awesome.
Who has heard of No Warning, here? They're pretty good. And, Canadian, I think. Wait.. I'll get you a link. Here's a link to their song Hopeless Case. It's my favorite. They're like metal-ish, but with melody. Kind of like Blindside, except harder, and without Swedish accents. With Canadian accents instead. They're signed to Machine Shop Recordings and their debut album is called Suffer, Survive. It's hot. Check 'em out.
Okay... What else. Oh, nothing.
Good night and good luck.
On the run from Johnny Law, ain't no trip to Cleveland.
I hung out with Jessy and Brandon yesterday. Tons of fun.
Then today, I woke up late, rolled out of bed, and went to class. In my underwear, no less. Well, my pajamas, at least, but they do happen to include a pair of boxer shorts. Anyway, I had anticipated a sorts of trouble trying to log in to my web classes for the first time, but it went rather smoothly.
I was a little confused when my Lit II class had assigned Huck Finn, since it's not in our literature book. But, it turns out that some people haven't been able to get a hold of the book, so we're starting out with Huck Finn. I just happened to have a copy of that laying around, so that's convenient, no?
I've already done a few of this week's assignments and what I don't finish today, I figure I'll get tomorrow. Also, tomorrow, I'm going to get my spreadsheet finished and do some promotion in Ft. Smith.
How I got blessed with a Friday off, I have no idea. I got Sunday off, too. I think I might go to Tulsa. They have more record stores there, and Jeromee is there.
That's been happening a lot, lately. Getting days off, I mean. Either she's trying to cut hours, highly likely, or she's phasing me out, also likely. Maybe it's because I'm quitting soon or maybe it's because I chase off the customers. Hehehe... Either way, no complaints here. Although, I do have a big insurance payment due next month, and my credit card bill is huge. That's no good. If I continue throughout the summer with hours like this, I'll have no money when I go to Norman. I'd be satisfied to just not have credit card debt when I get there.
I'm horrible at saving money. Horrible. I've got to work on that.
Hmm.. So, I think I'm in for a night of Sims 2 tonight. Whaddya say?
I think that's all I'm allowed to say for tonight.
